ail 602: Electronic instructional design
Course Description:
This course is designed to develop basic knowledge and skills for electronic instructional design -- analysis, design, production, evaluation, and revision -- for specific electronic projects.
Course Reflection:
AIL 602 we actually engaged in the process of instructional design building upon the learning theories we analyzed in AIL 601. The capstone project of this class was to the design, implement, and evaluate a fictitious course. The discussion aspect of the course centered around the implementation, benefits, and potential pitfalls involved in the design of our fictitious courses.
In the development of the fictitious course, we constructed a full Instructional Design Plan. This plan included the following components: Needs Assessment, Front End Analysis, Objective Analysis, Sequencing Strategies, Instructional Design Plan, and Formative Evaluation and Summative Evaluation Plans. While this appears to be a great deal of work, which it was, we were allowed to complete these activities by working collaboratively with our classmates. By using Google Docs, collaborate was relatively smooth. This was my first opportunity to work collaboratively via distance learning. Beyond just giving me the tools I need to be an effective instructional designer, it gave me a great deal of perspective in terms of how to encourage collaboration in distance learning classes that I actually teach.,
This course was critical in creating the foundation I need in the area of instructional design. I know that I will continue to use the skills that I obtained in this class as I continue my career in higher education.
