ail 605: Interactive media procedures
Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to prepare the student with knowledge and skills in modeling, simulation, testing, or analysis or training in real-world contexts using interactive multimedia processes.
Course Reflection:
Technology is a reality of pretty much everyone's careers that simply cannot be ignored if you have a desire to be successful. With interactive multimedia specifically, educators are able to disseminate course content in a multitude of ways and ultimately, in a fashion that is engaging and more effective in helping students of various learning styles absorb the content.
In this class, the various activities in this class directed us to focus on electronic visual design. The course's foundation was the text White Space is Not Your Enemy. Beyond the textbook, all of activities had us explore different concepts of visual design. The activity that I found most useful was the evaluation of a website. I found this activity particularly useful because it forced me to pay attention to different aspects of websites that are distracting or generally not practical or useful. As I design courses or websites now, I'm more conscious of how I set things up visually. Aesthetics are actually important in terms of assisting students with learning.
AIL 605 was interesting because I was able to apply the rules of design to education. I continue to use the principles of design and the information that I learned almost every day.
